Recall Alert: 2004-2008 Acura TSX Needs ECU Fix

Recall Alert: 2004-2008 Acura TSX Needs ECU Fix

Earlier today Acura announced a voluntary recall of about 76,000 TSX models ranging from 2004 to 2008 model years. This recall will take place in Washington D.C. and 22 other U.S. states. The reason for the recall is to install a water-resistant cover over the Electronic Control Unit (ECU). This will be performed at local dealerships at no cost to the owner.

Because cold-weather states use heavy amounts of road salts, the likelihood of it saturating the carpet under the dashboard that covers the metal case containing the ECU, it can come into contact with the metal case, causing corrosion and possible damage to the ECU itself if exposed for long periods of time. This damage can cause the vehicle to stall, increasing the likelihood of an accident.

Thankfully, no injuries or accidents have been reported in relation to this issue. Acura will mail notification to the owners of the affected vehicles beginning in mid-April. However, owners can go online to Acura’s recall site, or (800) 382-2238 to learn more about the recall and to see if their vehicle would require the aforementioned repairs.
