The 2013 Audi S4 presents buyers with a unique proposition: a performance sports sedan with more performance than a BMW 3 Series or Mercedes-Benz C-Class. But that extra performance will cost you. Likewise, performance versions from the competitionâ€"including the M3 and Mercedes-Benz C63 AMGâ€"are far more powerful than the S4, but come with a larger price tag still.
The S4 features alluring exterior styling, and several S-specific characteristics on the interior, that make especially premium feeling. Powered by an enhanced 3.0-liter supercharged V-6 engine, the S4 is capable of producing 333 horsepower and can be mated to a six-speed manual transmission or a seven-speed DSG automatic transmission with paddle shifters. And with four different driving modes to select from, the S4 is really what you make it. We had a few days to get acquainted with Audi’s sporty sedan, and were anxious to get behind the wheel.
