We wanted a 2014 Porsche 911 GT3 the moment we saw it emerge from its display stand at the Geneva Motor Show last month. We want it even more now.
Porsche has taunted our desires with two video trailers for its new track-focused GT3. Packing 475 horsepower from its 3.8-liter flat-6, the 911 GT3 sings through its 9,000-rpm engine range as it accelerates from 0 to 62 mph in 3.5 seconds on up to a 195-mph top speed. For the first time, the 911 GT3 eschews its former six-speed manual transmission for a new seven-speed PDKâ"Porsche Doppelkupplungs Getriebe, or dual-clutch gearboxâ"hitting shifts in the blink of an eye.
Its interior is as minimalistic as youâd expect in a $ 120,000 supercar. That is to say that it comes with suede-covered, power racing buckets and a navigation system. Standard is a 4.6-inch TFT display in the gauges.
More than the racy spoiler or the revised bumpers, we canât help but listen to that wail coming from its engine and get a little weak in the knees. This car isnât your normal South Beach Porsche; itâs a race-ready Goliath of velocity. After watching these two trailers for the 2014 Porsche 911 GT3, weâre creating a Kickstarter to get one. You should, too.
