2014 Dodge Durango Taillights Teased Before New York Debut

2014 Dodge Durango Taillights Teased Before New York Debut

Automakers are notorious for releasing teaser images before a major auto show and Dodge is the latest to participate in this tactic. Above is a teaser image of the 2014 Dodge Durango’s racetrack taillights, which have been refreshed for the latest model year. These new taillights help bring the Durango up to speed design-wise with the rest of Dodge’s stable. Other Dodge models that feature the racetrack taillight design include the Challenger, Charger, and Dart.

The 2014 Dodge Durango looks to bring the nameplate back into the forefront of the full-size SUV segment. The only way to go is up as sales have dwindled from almost 175,000 units in 2000, all the way down to only 572 in 2010. After emerging from bankruptcy, Dodge began moving Durangos again but it hasn’t been close to the numbers it tallied at the beginning of the century. Everything else that may be added to the latest Durango is still speculation, but since it shares its architecture with the Jeep Grand Cherokee, it’s not out of the realm of possibility for an eight-speed automatic transmission and Chrysler Group’s Uconnect infotainment system and 8.4-inch touchscreen to make an appearance.

What we do know, however, is that the 2014 Dodge Durango will carry on with the 3.6-liter V-6 and 5.7-liter V-8 engines. As for the highly touted 3.0-liter EcoDiesel engine that was just introduced in the 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee, it’s unknown at this time if the Durango will get it as well. Stay tuned for full details, pictures, and other news from the 2013 New York International Auto Show, which kicks off next week.
